you call me “friend” with a grin made of glitter and glue— it sparkles, but it doesn’t hold. you say all the right things, but your eyes never stay long, always scanning the room for someone better, shinier, more useful. you ask, "how are you?" like it’s a script— and you don’t wait for the answer. because real is messy, and you don’t do messy. you hug like a photograph— pretty, posed, flat. no warmth, no weight. but i’m not made of air, and i don’t bend like paper. i see it now— you only love me when it’s convenient. so take your soft lies, your shallow check-ins, your sugar-coated ghosts and stay over there. i’m done watering fake flowers just to watch them stay dead.
