Y do our smart score lower down when we are not active?

I believe it comes down to that its called a "Smart Score" (SS). You can only stay "Smart" if you keep up with your studies (stay on QC), hence why your SS goes down when you aren't.

You can also look at it as just a way that the team decided was the best way to have users stay on this homework website. Users wouldn't want all their progress towards their SS to go to waste, so staying active is key.

Also, the system is based on an algorithm. Usually, as more active users level up, the less active ones that have been away for a while level down.
That's why in most cases, users return after a year or two, and find their SmartScores dropped by a few.
