My second attempt at a horror story.

iAmTsUkKi:

I often worked the day shift at my job, which was at a convenience store that was quite popular as it got busy rather quickly. Though today was different. My manager asked me to work an extra shift due to another employee falling ill to some string of a stomach virus. I was reluctant to agree at first, I didn’t really like the idea of working the night shift or the thought of having to close on my own at that time. Yet for some reason I made the choice to pick up the shift despite having a bad feeling in the pit of my gut. A feeling that I should have listened to. Besides the nagging feeling of unease I got through the shift fine. I serviced the last customer and flipped the ‘open’ sign on the door to ‘closed’. I started to sweep up and make sure the store was all cleaned before I left. I was halfway through sweeping when I saw something rush past the aisle I was on from my peripheral vision. I paused and turned my head in the direction of what I thought I saw, but of course there was nothing there. I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something wrong but I just continued on with my duties for closing. As I was heading to the storage area to put the broom away I saw a figure in the corner, right next to the door of the storage room. I blinked a few times, almost as if I was trying to make sure I wasn’t just imagining things, and I wasn’t. There was actually something or someone there, my grip on the broom tightened instinctively as I slowly moved closer to the door of the storage room. As I approached I came to realize that the figure was quite slim and tall with a black hood pulled over its head, I also noticed that I couldn’t make out a face—but that was only because it didn’t have one.

My heart started to beat so fast and hard that I thought it would beat out of my chest. At that moment I felt a sense of urgency and fear wash over me and I knew that I should run but I couldn’t. I froze. All I could do was stand there, trembling with fear and the adrenaline was pumping through my veins as my fight or flight kicked in. It only took me a few seconds to slightly gather myself enough to finally get my body to move. I tossed the broom aside and bolted in the other direction, I couldn’t help but look back over my shoulder and to my horror the hooded, faceless figure was no longer beside the storage room. It was gone, just that fast. Then the sinking feeling hit me, I realized that there was no way that I was making it out of this convenience store with that thing, whatever it was. I shook my head to snap myself out of the thought and continued to run, and run, and run. But it felt as if I wasn’t getting anywhere, like I was running in circles as I continuously passed the same few aisles each time without getting any closer to the exit. I started to panic. I couldn’t get to the exit and I was completely alone with something that was probably going to do something to me. Just as I was about to turn the corner and round the aisle again something swooped past me. I didn’t want to look but my head moved on its own. My head slowly turned to the side and there it was, the same slim, hooded figure towering over me.

iAmTsUkKi:

With it this close I noticed how tall it actually was and that made me feel even smaller and doomed. I didn’t even have the chance to run off, before I could do anything the being reached out and grabbed me by the throat. I struggled against the grip of the thing, its skeletal-like hand tightened around my throat and I could hear its bones cracking and grinding against each other as it squeezed tighter and tighter. It started to lift me off of the ground, to the point that I was level with one of the shelves in the aisle that we were on. I tried desperately to get it to release me but I felt myself getting drowsy and weaker as I started to drift in and out of consciousness. It made the horrific choice to snap my neck as if it was a twig, my whole body went limp. The un-human force pulled his hood back, revealing nothing but darkness that swirled like a void. It didn’t hesitate to lower me down into the dark void, consuming me and not sparing anything. Not even a limb. Its greed was beyond anything and it would do anything to fill itself, though me alone wasn’t enough.
