Huh, why did I get like 3 people telling me to respond to a post about dissociative identity disorder? Do people think I have DID?

doubtful, I have it and I think this guy is just lonely and looking for friends ig, my system personally has 9 or (7?) alters

Twaylor:

What this has to do with anything related about questioncove or any topic on questioncove is kind of an irresponsible post and should rather be discussed in chat.

I mean I think it's alright so long as the post stays on topic, I don't really want to take it down and warn the post maker and then the mod/ambi team come off as anti-did or something. Plus Jay himself has seen and replied to it so it should be fine lol

That's fair.

.1 Per basic definitions of DID: This is a disorder where it may form due to the person having experienced physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, neglect, or viewing / witnessing traumatic events. .2 Alterations in brain chemicals, such as glutamate and GABA, may also play a part in it. .3 As a coping mechanism, the brain may compartmentalize traumatic experiences, creating separate mental spaces for them and in so doing form "alters". .4 Alters can have different points of view, roles (see .6), genders, ages, personalities, and species / anthropomorphic views or expressions. .5 The sense of self sometimes becomes fragmented, with different alters taking control at different times due to specified stress or anxiety reasons of said person. .6 Roles - roles are part of a system, as you may have heard - DID "system", if you want the full definitions I'd recommend checking out: https://lemonandlively.com/alter-roles/

Twaylor:

If you have questions about endo "systems" or fake systems, let me know :>

Twaylor:

An inner/internal world is a mental space for alters. An internal world is a cognitive structure created by some people with DID to help them manage their fragmented identities. It provides a sense of organization and a frame of reference for the alters who share a single body. An inner world can be varying in size and complexity. An inner world can also range from a simple, unadorned mental room (sometimes) to an expansive and complicated landscape, such as a house or even a different planet. The size and complexity often reflect the person's imagination and their need to retreat from the outside world. A place for internal communication. Inside this world, alters can interact with one another, holding conversations or playing out entire stories when they are not in control of the body. This internal communication and interaction can sometimes manifest as a person with DID hearing voices. Mine personally is a dorm room like the one you see in Spiderman but not quite.

hi dont mind me just another system adding onto what youve said! many people think of integration as a helpful amazing thing that "re-combines" all the alters etc, and i wanna explain why this is wrong just so nobody gets the wrong idea or anything (we were previously in a DID friendly space which began to believe the above and became system unfriendly due to the awful assumption) 1- not all systems are PF(poly fragmented), a PF-DID/OSDD system is a system with undeveloped alters with little to no sense of identity or self. these systems CAN integrate, and are mainly the only type who can, due to how regular fragments in a system can combine to form alters. these alters all combine to the host in the process of integration. 2- this can be extremely harmful. even with PF systems, this can go back on a lot of therapy and emotional regulation. this can in many cases cause the system to get worse by even trying. 3- it takes a LOT of therapy to even get CLOSE to integration. not all systems even CAN integrate, ours physically cannot even with the mass amounts of therapy weve been through. integration isnt proven to be helpful no matter what google says, and many, many therapists warn against it. back with the topic of a "headspace" or "internal house", this is usually split into two sections- the front room, where the current alter/alters who are fronting reside and the main headspace, where alters not fronting reside as an alter, its possible to engage in activity or talk inside of headspace. think of it kind of like a lucid dream but not when youre dreaming. different alters are their own people, like a group of people sharing an account. different developed alters have separate personalities, looks, identities, ages, roles, and everything else. dont treat them like a different alter even if they act similar, they still share a brain. with DID comes amnesiatic symptoms, not remembering what happened while another alter was fronting or inbetween switching. OSDD, however, does not. with OSDD, alters usually remember between switching/when they werent in front. DID and OSDD are both plural, but different and then.,.. endo systems. these are fake systems, using plurality as a form of roleplay. its disgusting and a mock of the serious disorder, using it for fun as if its something great. systemhood derives completely from childhood trauma. this isnt something you WANT. ask either of us questions bcuz im happy to answer and teach!!
