How can I identify the text structures compare and contrast, problem and solution, and descriptive?

xXAikoXx:

To compare and contrast, you need to look for differences and similarities by searching for words such as 'similar', 'same', 'different', 'but', and phrases such as 'on the other hand'. To identify problem and solution, first identify the problem using context clues and look high and low for words like 'issue', 'solution', or 'dilemma'. For descriptive, hunt for the author's provided details, examples, and characteristics, lacking little to no focus on problem and solution, compare and contrast, or the sequence of events.
