I have to write an essay about what I think the most important cause of ww1 and why. I personally think that imperialism Is the most important cause for the start of the war since it led to the assassination of the heir.
Would a strong argument be "The assassination of the heir directly led to the start of ww1. This assassination was caused by imperialism and land disputes"

I would say if you have to write a whole essay on it, then summarizing it in the first line is probably not the best way to go, i'd say you should start off with a strong introduction such as life before ww1, or what may have led to imperialism and then lead onto that. but that's my opinion on it. good idea so far!
