you always had that little string on your finger, pulling me back every time I tried to walk away. You’d yank it hard, “Come back, I miss you,” then drop me again like I was nothing but dirt on your shoe. And every time you pulled, the string got thicker, tighter, heavier. It hurt, but I kept hoping maybe this time you meant the sweet words you said when I was sad and falling apart. But you didn’t. You faked it all. You played “nice friend” like it was a game, smiling at me while sticking another lie in my back. You said you cared. You said “sorry.” But if you’re sorry, then why did you do this to me? Why did you twist my heart like a toy you could break and then walk off like nothing happened? Why did you pretend to care just so you could run to my ex like you didn’t know I was crying over both of you? And the worst part? My ex doesn’t even want you. Not now, not ever. You ruined our friendship for nothing. You burned your bridge for someone who didn’t even look back at you. You tried to make me feel small, but all you did was show how small you really are. A girl who acts sweet only when she wants something. A girl who loves drama more than honesty. A girl who pulls people close just to drop them harder. But guess what? That string you used to pull me back? I cut it. Clean. Sharp. Gone. No more coming and going. No more fake love. No more “I’m sorry” that means nothing. I’m done hurting. I’m done being your backup plan, your safety net, your puppet. Go lie to someone else. Go play pretend with another heart. Go chase someone who won’t look at you. I’m healing now. I’m choosing myself. And you? You’re just a lesson I learned the hard way a reminder why not everyone who smiles is a friend.
