i’ve outgrown versions of myself
i never thought i’d leave behind,
stepping out of old shadows
that used to feel like home.
i’m learning to choose my own light,
slow and steady,
even on days my confidence
forgets how to stand up straight.
i’m not finished,
not perfect,
not anyone’s copy
just a girl rebuilding,
piece by piece,
promise by promise,
step by step.
and maybe that’s the magic
not being who i was,
but becoming who i’m meant to be,
even if the world
hasn’t met her yet.
