How many times
will you choose the lie
before you learn
it doesn’t protect you
it only wears me down?
I don’t need perfect.
I don’t need clean excuses
wrapped in careful words.
I need truth,
even when it’s ugly,
especially when it’s yours.
You keep lying like it’s easier,
like I won’t feel it
settle wrong in my chest,
like I haven’t already memorized
the sound of your voice
when you’re not real.
When will you learn
that lying hurts more
than whatever you’re hiding?
That every time you do it,
you’re telling me
I’m not worth honesty.
I hate lies.
I hate the guessing,
the rewinding conversations,
the way trust keeps cracking
and you keep acting surprised
by the sound.
Just tell me the truth for once.
Let it hurt cleanly.
Let it be real.
I am tired of surviving
what honesty
could have spared me.

some people come to teach us tenderness.
others come to teach us boundaries.
some only exist long enough
to show us how deep we can feel,
then they leave.

and that doesn’t mean it was fake.
It means it was finite.

if someone couldn’t meet you where you were growing,
that wasn’t your failure.
growth makes certain hands let go.

love doesn’t always stay.
but it always leaves a mark,
not to wound,
but to shape.

and if you’re still standing after it ends,
still softer, still honest,
still capable of care,
then love did exactly
what it was supposed to do.
