life is great. life is great, right? parents separate parents fight 24/7 walls shake doors slam silence feels louder than screaming father cheats like vows meant nothing like promises were paper easy to rip easy to throw away father threatens to murder ur mom words that stick in ur head words u can’t unhear words that make sleep feel unsafe see? so great. then father buys u a car like metal and keys can fix fear like money can erase nights spent listening for footsteps or holding ur breath hoping today isn’t the day people say “at least he provides” “be grateful” but gratitude feels heavy when love comes with conditions when pain is wrapped in gifts when apologies are never spoken you smile say thank u because that’s what u’re supposed to do but inside u’re tired of pretending things balance out because trauma doesn’t cancel just because something shiny shows up because fear doesn’t disappear when it’s parked in the driveway life is great. that’s what u tell people that’s what u tell yourself but some nights u wonder why “great” hurts this much

Skeeter:

Nail hit on head. Nice.

seeker:

Sometimes it’s Almighty God who let us get hurt mb we don’t understand why only me… but it’s just his way of letting us see or feel the unseen unspoken truth of beautiful happenings beside these sad and hurtful moments.

mcglones29:

I know the feeling wishing for it all to stop so this hits hard for me
