a poem about love and loss and growth
Loss feels like something important is missing. Like a chair pulled away from the table. Like a voice you expect to hear, but don’t. At first, it hurts all the time. Even small things can make you cry. A smell. A song. A quiet room. You may feel angry. Or confused. Or just very tired. That is normal. That is grief. But little by little, you learn how to carry it. You wake up. You brush your teeth. You step outside. The world keeps going. And slowly, you do too. Growing doesn’t mean you stop missing them. It means you learn to live with the missing. You start to smile again. You laugh without feeling as guilty. You remember the good things more than the painful ones. Love doesn’t disappear when someone is gone. It stays in your memories. It shows up in the way you care about others. It makes you softer. And stronger. We lose people. We break a little. But we also grow. And in that growth, love is still there.
