George has some $2 bills and $5 bills worth $91. he has a total of twent bills, how many of each does he have?

OpenStudy (sid1729):

Assume that the number of $2 bills is x, and the number of $5 bills is y. Now, the question has two statements which allow us to form two equations to solve for x and y. statement 1: Total value of the bills is $91. Think about what equation you can make with this information using x and y. Hint: total value of a type of bill = number of bills * value of one bill statement 2: Total number of bills is twenty. What is the total number of bills in terms of x and y?
