complex numbers in polar form: the angle θ can be in degrees or radians, so do I have to change the mode on my calculator every time?

No friend.... simply if angle is in degree then then multiply it with pie/180 to convert it into radian where pie=3.14 for reverse conversion multiply with 180/pie
