the domain is where the function gives values, when the denominator =0 than the fraction does not exist so 4x-1 cannot be equal to 0 4x-1=0 x=1/4 so the domain is all the real numbers except x=1/4

yes that is one way of writing it, but I prefer this: $x \in \mathbb{R}$ \x=1/4
