Solve the system by substitution: 2x-y=5 -2x+y=7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from the first equation we get 2x = y+5 substitute that in the second equation to get -(y+5)+y =7 solve for y and plug it back in one of the original equations to find the value of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help with please??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Solving

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is no solution to this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get -5 = 7 which is silly, hence this system of equations doesnt have a solution. notice that the slopes of the two lines are the same. this means they are parallel. this means they have no point of intersection and hence no solution

Thank you''
