I'm asking because I don't know.

the variables are physical exercise and consumption of fruits and vegetables. My instructor says they are attributes but I don't know what makes them that.

I thought the variable represented numbers real or complex, maybe in a specific problem they could represent consumption of a quantity of fruit. In that case, the contexts of the problem should provide the needed information
