Well...it really depends... There are two main branches of hacking:
One is hacking and the other is cracking (even it is not official). So i am going to specific in hacking. You can use tools like cheat engine to change variables in different websites, but not server websites/data. So, as a recommendation, you need to study some programming and start to learn using hacking softwares. Also, you cannot jump to stealing hotmail accounts, you will need time and effort like everything in life

Hacking =>Clever play of intelligence .
Hacking =>It applies to all fileds and not restricted to computers.
Computer Hacking started with Phone freaking of captain crunch ,followed by steve woznaik(Founder of Apple along with Steve Jobs) and Kevin MItnik(social engineering master).These three are great hackers/Crackers.
In programming Hackers were Richard Mathew Stallman,Paul graham etc...

Hacking could be a good thing, you can start using BackTrack, a Linux distro, there is a lot of material about it on Internet (example YouTube)
