This is a GEometry problem attachments included
first one is c
i got that :3 and the second one?
what did you get? i hope its what i got...
the same :3
yeah, but for the 2nd one, what did you get?
that is where im confused :0
you need to work out E to F then divide that by DE
ok 1 min
and you have to remember that the picture they have is not to scale
is it 7.6?
i agrizzle
so its correct? :3
it is not 7.6 try again. find first the EF. which is, 30 - 18 = 12 the ratio is: GH : 8 = 18 : 12 what you do is, divide 12 by 8, multiply it to GH. Then equate it to 18. like this, (12/8)GH = 18 my answer is not 7.6
yeah, im pretty sure
its 12 isn't it. thats what i started with but then i looked at the diagram again, and thought that cant be right because those other lines arent parallel
oh so its 12
when i say "its 12 isn't it." im talking about theawesomes answer not what the actual answer is
ooooooooo my bad
it might be, but see the proportion. GH should be larger than HI, since DE is larger than EF.
so, 7.6 can't be the answer since it is smaller than 8. you're defying the proportion given in question 6. plus, solve it mathematically, it gives you 12. so, I say it is 12.
no, it shouldn't because of that exact reason... it'd only be the same ratio if they were parallel. but because they're coming together then it has to be smaller
okay. i understand that. but can you show me how you got 7.6?
no i dont want to :(
I'm getting 12 as well. 8 (18/12)=12.
yeah, i think that diagram just put me off i honestly started with 12 as my answer
Okay. So 12 it is.
Thank you all
sigh, yes.
