A 75 foot tower is to be fastened by three guy wires attached to the top of the tower and to the ground at positions 30 feet from its base. How much wire is needed? (Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place.)

To solve for one guy wire: You have a right triangle with 30 feet acting as the base and 75 feet as the height. Use pythagorean theorem to solve for the hypotenuse. a ^{2} + b ^{2} = c ^{2}, with a = 30, b = 75 then, c = 80.8 Now this is only the length of one guy wire so you need to multiply this answer by three. 80.8 * 3 = 242.4 feet
