To evaluate, we use PEMDAS: Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction 3 (6-3) -2^3 ... Start with the given expression 3 (3) -2^3 .. Deal with the parenthesis first: subtract 6-3 to get 3 3 (3) - 8 .. Cube 2 to get 8 9 - 8 .. Multiply 1 ... Subtract So 3 (6-3) -2^3 = 1

lol pedmas

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

did I make a typo?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

no, i just find the concept of teaching extra information to remember as a means to remember what needs to remembered rather .... wasteful, but its just my opinion

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the first thing you do is subtract; or the first thing you do is distribute thru the (..), or the first thing you do is the exponent .... kinda alot of first thing options

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well some find it helpful, so whatever works I guess
