In what ways do geologic processes affect your daily life?
Well I suppose there is the simple one of when a volcano erupts you can't be near it, planes are cancelled that kind of thing. They also enlarge the size of the hole in the ozone layer so if you live under it it means that it is much easier to get sunburnt (eg. if you live in Albany, Western Australia sun cream is a must!). In other ways geology controls what soils are in a particular area and this in turn controls what plants can grow on it and so what food is locally available. I'm sure there are plenty more examples out there but I can't think of anymore right now :)
Some of the geological processes that affect your daily life are: Soil production: without topsoil, crops wouldn't be able to grow. Mountain building: affects weather patterns Plate tectonics: affects the climate, causes earthquakes. Volcanoes add CO2 to the atmosphere, disrupt air travel, add more land area to islands.
geological processes affect the surroundings ti which you are adapt. this change, slow yet definite, can even tamper with your genes and thus lead to the process of 'further evolution". If the process involve the creation of new landscapes, then the smoke emission and sudden evolution of high temperatires may wipe out many important species of flora and fauna..... similarly, we are very sensitive to physical geological changes!
