Use polynomial long division to divide 12x3 – 9x2 + 13x + 4 by 3x2 – 3x + 4. . I have worked the problem numerous times but I do not believe my answer is correct.
cheat
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%2812x3+%E2%80%93+9x2+%2B+13x+%2B+4+%29%2F%283x2+%E2%80%93+3x+%2B+4%29 apparently it goes in there evenly
This is what I got : 4x + 1 . But when I check it, the solution does not match up. 4x R -3x + 4 ? _____________________ 3x^2 - 3x + 4 l 12x^3 - 3x^2 + 13x + 4 12x^3 - 3x^2 + 16x (sub) 0 0 -3x + 4
not sure what you mean. check by multiplying
oh i see the mistake in what you wrote.
you didn't multipy -3x by 4x. you wrote 12x^3-3x^2+16x it should be 12x^3-12x^2+16x
okay. i tried to type it so it looked like the actual equation/ my original answer I got was 4x + 1 but I am stilol unsure if that is right
4x +1 ___________________________ 3x^3-3x+4 12x^3 - 9x^2 + 13x + 4 12x^3-12x^2+16x 4x^2 -3x + 4 4x^2-3x+4 0
you made another mistake as well when you copied. you put 12x^3 - 3x^2 + 13x + 4 when it should have been 12x^3 - 9x^2 + 13x + 4
somehow the -9 became a -3
