Sorry, there is one mistake I made. IT must be |2x + 5| < 7 (not 5). So, 2x must be less than 2 OR 2x must be greater than -12

You take it to the other side. It becomes +1 when taken to the other side. That is why it comes out to |2x + 5| < 7. Originally, I made a mistake of taking one to the other side and subtracting.
