just replace the value of x like in this case x = x-1

F(X)=x^2+3x-2 \[F(x-1) = (x-1)^2 + 3(x-1) - 2\]\[=> F(x-1) = x^2 -2x +1 +3x -3 -2\]\[=> F(x-1) = x^2 + x -4\]
