I like TranceNova's post. I hope you will give a medal to the correct answer or the most helpful one, not the "first" one. Anyway, if you really care to know, 1. There is no difference in mass 2. The Atom is neutral, the ion is +1, Na atom is reactive and Na+ is stable and not reactive. This is because the Na+has achieved an inert gas electronic config.
