Use the given information about a polynomial whose coefficients are real numbers to find the remaining zeros of the polynomial. Degree: 6 Zeros: -6+13i^3, -8+s^2i, -3-4i (where s is a real number) Use the given information about a polynomial whose coefficients are real numbers to find the remaining zeros of the polynomial. Imaginary roots always occur in pairs. So, the three other roots have to be the conjugates of the given roots, which are stated as follows: -6-13i^3, -8-s^2i, -3+4i

ok that is the same answer I got too....thank you so much! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does the s mean anything though?

OpenStudy (a_clan):

s is a variable which can be any real number. It is stated to be a real number because if it was to be an imaginary number then it would have altered the value of given roots. And then the roots may not have remained imaginary numbers i.e. they could have become Real on simplification. Then we could not have applied the concept of conjugates occuring in pairs.

ohhh ok. Well that makes alot more sense. Thank you for the explanation!
