Why is NX3 Unstable ?

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

Nitrogen TriHalides \[NX_{3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nitrogen TriHalides are unstable in the presence of numerous compounds...including oil present on fingers...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

except NF3 all the trihalides of nitrogen are unstable............ The instability of the nitrogen trihalides is mainly focused on the fact that the halogen atoms are so much bigger than the nitrogen atom that they have a hard time remaining bonded to the nitrogen. This would explain the loss of stability as you move down the group and why NF3 is so stable. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!!!:)

OpenStudy (diyadiya):

Ok , Finally Got it :) Thankyou
