perimeter and area of a rectangle critical thinking questions... W=original width, L=original length 1) the length of a rectangle is 3 inches longer than the width. What is the best model of the area of this rug? A) w^2+3w 2) Write an expression that will best model the perimeter of the rectangle. A) ??? 3)Suppose we have a new rectangle with a width that is 10 inches longerthan the width of the old rectangle and a length that is twice the width of the new rectangle. what is the area of the new rectangle? A) 2w^2+40w+200 4) What is the perimeter of the new rectangle?
I think 2 should be P=4w +6
That's what I thought as well but it's asking for the answer in inches, which is confusing me a bit.
well that equation would give you an answer in inches
even without an original description of length/width?
well if you put in a value for w it will give you an answer in inches that follows the model of the rectangle they described.
also I think the last one should be P=6w+60
so 4) should be 6w+60, right? The last question is write an expression for the difference between the new and old rectangle in inches squared.
I think that's right, and for the last part you should get 2w+54 I think
Awesome! Thanks.
