\[2x^2-4x-6 = 0 \] Now I solved this: \[2(x+3)(x-1)=0\] -> x=-3,1 Now I'm confused. Say I plug in 2 in the first form of the equation, you get 8 - 8 - 6 = -6 which correctly reflects the graph. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=2x^2-4x-6 Now plug in 2 to the second equation you get 2(5)(1) = 0 ?

\[2x^2-4x-6=2(x^2-2x-3)=2(x-3)(x+1).\]
Can you see where you're wrong?
Yeah. I'm wrong ! lol. I got the signs mixed up for trying to get the sum to = -2. So -3 + 1 will work. Thank you. I thought it was something bigger I had to wory about.
:)
