Chemistry

A solution of calcium chloride, CaCl2, will lower the freezing point of water to a greater extent than an equal concentration of NaCl because the solution of calcium chloride: absorbs more heat has greater polarity ionizes more completely has a more positive ion, Ca+2 produces more ions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It produces more ions hence van't hoff factor is higher for CaCl2 than NaCl hence freezing point is lowered more. Change in freezing point= i*K*m. i=van't hoff's factor,K=constant, m=molality.
