Am I correct? Restrictions on variables? What restrictions do these variables have? x - 4 / x - 3 My answer: x cannot be +- 3, or +-4. Am I correct? Thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x cannot be 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why is that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why not 4 as well?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the denominator (x-3) is cannot equal 0 x-3=0 --> So x cannot be 3 as we get an undefined value since we cannot divide by 0. However as long as the denominator is not 0, it numerator can be any value even 0 since 0/a=0 where a is some value :)
