what would happen if glow stick liquid were exposed to high tempratures in a styrofoam cup?

I think this should be moved to the Chemistry forum. Usually, there is more then only one liquid inside a glow stick, but I guess you're talking about diphenyl oxalate. Honestly, I have no clue about chemistry, but having had a glance at these two wikipedia articles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diphenyl_oxalate and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polystyrene#Polymerization , I would guess that the two phenyl groups of the diphenyl oxalate will attach to the CH2 of the polystyrene and make the chain just a little bit longer. What remains is peroxyacid, that decomposes to carbon dioxide and also releasing energy, that would excite the dye and make it emit a photon.

But, I should really emphasize this: It's just a guess, since I have no clue about competing reactions that could take place.
