If the initial temperature of the tea is 175̊F, what would the final temperature of the tea be once the ice cubes have completely melted? Specific heat capacity of tea = 4.019 kJ/kg K Weight of ice cubes = 65 grams total weight Initial temperature of ice cubes = - 18 C Weight of tea = 400.0 grams

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

is it 150.48 F ...not sure how the heat capacity comes into play seems to be more on the physics type of a question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get that?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

basically took a weighted average using the weights of tea and ice cubes relative to total weight **-18C = -.4F -->175(400/465) -.4(65/465)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know why my numbers are off I have to convert degrees F to C

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

oh well ...C = (5/9)(F-32)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

65.82 C

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

wait can you check your answers...im not 100% that i'm right :|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i won't be about to check it
