Dinitrogen pentoxide decomposes into nitrogen dioxide and oxygen gas. The reaction is first order in dinitrogen pentoxide and has a half-life of 2.81 h at 25 Celsius. If a 1.5L reaction vessel initially contains 745 torr of dinitrogen pentoxide at 25 Celsius, what partial pressure of oxygen gas will be present in the vessel after 215 minutes?
what class are you taking?
General/College Chemistry 2. I have an idea of how to do the problem but not sure about the steps involved.
1.) Set up a balanced equation. 2.) Set up an ICE chart relating partial pressures of the species. 3.) The final partial pressure of the N2O5 will be related to how many half-lives it's gone through. That should give you a start. What can you produce from that?
Thanks for theat is n. That was what I was thinking of but that is not introduced until the next chapter (ICE chart, etc). That means, I'll have to use another method from the chapter. This is the chapter before the ICE charts and everything/
