Can this reaction take place/does it exist - CaCl2+CO2+H20----> CaCO3 + 2HCl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah it can exist

OpenStudy (anonymous):

firstly CaCl2 reacts with water to form CaO an then CaO reacts with CO2 to form CaCO3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CaCO3+2HCl>>>CO2+H2O+CaCl2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Thanks a lot! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maths911, you mean to say it's a reversible reaction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CaO + CO2 can automatically convert itself in to CaCO3 but CaCO3 can't convert itself into CaO and CO2 without heating...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It can be reversible too. Either way is possible.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it can only by maintaining it ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*confused*. well thanks d'oh.
