A 50.0 mL sample has a mass of 50.7 g. The specific gravity is: A: 1.014 g/mL B: 0.986g/L C:1.01 D: 0.986 E: 50.7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Specific gravity is nothing but density in grams per mL without the unit. Here density=50.7/50=1.01Which is the answer.

So, the same formula of density will work for specific gravity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well actually specific density is density of a substance divided by density of water if you write it in grams per litre density of water is 1 and hence specific gravity is just density in gram per mL
