whats the domain of 1x^3-1x^2-36x+36/1x^3-17x^2+90x-144

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would that be -inf to inf

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

The domain is the set of all values of x that will produce a real output. (I assume this is two polynomials over each-other) If you have a variable in the denominator, we know that the expression in the denominator cannot be 0. So, restriction on the domain would be the values of x for when the denominator is 0.

Thanks Access, I missed the fraction bar. Don't know what I was thinking. :)

OpenStudy (accessdenied):

\[ \frac{x^{3} - x^{2} - 36x + 36}{x^{3} - 17x^{2} + 90x - 144} \] This is the expression, correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (nenadmatematika):

the denominator must not be equal to zero so when you factorize polynomial below you get:|dw:1329780339214:dw|
