a silicon ball is dropped 24 feet and rebounds (3/4) of the height from which it fell on each bounce. what is the total vertical distance the ball will travel before it comes to rest?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It will be the sum of all the times it comes back up 24 + 24 *(3/4)+ (24 *(3/4)) *(3/4) + ((24 *(3/4)) *(3/4)) * 3/4+ .....until the value of when it bounces back up is close to zero

hope that helps

thanks.this was i too tried. but is there any shortcut or formula to do?

think can use the formula of infinite geometric series. s=a1/(1-r)
