How does a high-mass star differ from a low-mass star as both enter the final stages of their life cycle? A. A high-mass star dies more explosively. B. A high-mass star ends in a nova event. C. A high-mass star ends when it runs out of hydrogen. D. A high-mass star converts helium to carbon, whereas a low-mass star does not.

A high-mass star burns hotter and therefore burns out faster than a low mass star. All stars end when they run out of hydrogen, however they convert it into helium, not carbon. A high-mass star ends more explosively, maybe in a supernova if it is massive enough.

A high-mass star converts its helium into carbon as its core collapses. That might be the answer.
