How can a star have a low apparent magnitude and a high absolute magnitude? A. if it is very close to Earth B. if it is a very young star C. if it is very far from Earth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it's A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I love astronomy!!! The answer is...C. The apparent magnitude is what we observe from earth... and the absolute is what the luminosity actually is... for example, our sun has a ridiculously high apparent magnitude, but its absolute is very low. To us it's very bright, but compared to all other stars its not all that luminous.
