Write the balanced chemical equation for the addition of 2 Br2 to CH3C≡CH.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CH3CHCH+2Br2 --> CH3CHBr2-CHBr2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're reaction is an electrophilic addition of Br2 to 1-propyne so you'll get a double addition product, the Br2 will add to the CH3CCH to form CH3CBr=CBrH. Then the second mole of Br2 will react and add to create CH3CBr2CBr2H. The reaction occurs via a bromonium ion intermediary and in other cases you might have to worry about stereochemistry, in this case since you're doing a double addition it doesn't matter, for additions to double bonds you'll have to remember you can produce stereoisomers.
