what is the difference between electronegativity and electron affinity ?????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Electronegativity is the tendency of an atom to attract another atom's electrons. On the other hand, electron affinity is the amount of energy released when one free electron is added to a neutral atom.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Electronegativity is used to determine the scale of "pull" on electrons by an element in a compound. It is useful to determine whether a compound is going to be bipolar for example. So water for example, contains oxygen, a very electronegative element, therefore making it bipolar as it pulls the electrons from the near by hydrogen.. Electron Affinity is the energy released when an electron joins an element, and is the opposite of Ionization energy

thanx to both of you !!!!
