The bottom shape is a cube with base edges of 24 yards. The top shape is a right pyramid with a height of 5 yards. What is the surface area of this composite figure? a.2,928 yd2 b.3,504 yd2 c.2,880 yd2 d. 624 yd2

Lets see here, the edges of the cube are 24 yards, so the equation for the area would be 24^2 * 6 since you have 6 faces and the area for each face is the edge length squared. Now the area of the pyramid on top is a little trickier. There's probably an exact equation for this, but I dunno so I'm gonna do it the way I would. The base is going to have a radius to each edge of 12 yards which is and x component to the triangle I'm about to make. The y component is the height. All you have to do is remember Pythagoras's theroum. which is squrt(a^2 + b^2) = c which is the height of the triangle and the base which will be 24 yards. The area is 1/2 * height * base and the area outside would just be 4 of those added together and the total would be that plus 5 areas of the faces of the cube ( since the top of the cube is inside as well as the base of the pyramid).

5(24^2) +4(1/2( squrt(24^2 + 5^2))(24)) = Area. Sorry, I can't give out answers specifically since it degrades my integrity.
