derivative of cos^5 (pix-13)
You need to use the chain rule here: so the answer is (4 x cos^4 (pix - 13)) x (-sin( pix - 13)) x pi.
Where did you get the 4 from?
Oh sorry replace the 4 in front with a 5! so the first part should be ( 5cos^4(pix -13))(-sin(pix - 13))(pi)
So the whole answer is what I posted above - that's not just the first part
So the (-sin) shouldn't be raised to the 5?
nope! because the first part of the chain rule is finding the derivative of (x^5), and the second is finding the derivative of (cos x), and the third part of the chain rule is finding the derivative of (pix - 13).
so you already took care of the raising to the 5 in the first part of the answer, where we have that termed raised to the 4.
Oh okay thank you. I get it now
