factor 5x^2y^2-15xy^2-50y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you want to try to simplify it a little by taking out 5y^2 to get: \[5y^2(x^2-3x-10)\] you can now factor the second part \[x^2-5x+2x-10)\] notice how i separated the two middle terms, to equal -3x, and that those two multiplied together will equal -10, so you have: \[(x-5)(x+2)\] final answer would be: \[5y^2[(x-5)(x+2)]\]
