Considering the ending of the short story “Was It a Dream?” what is the author saying about love? Do you think he is right or wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is this the short story by Guy de Maupassant or some other author? We need a bit of context here in order to help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try putting the events of the story in your own words. What impact does the ending have upon you? What do YOU think the author is saying about love? Why? (That is, what in the story leads you to think that?) Whether you think he is right or wrong is entirely up to you and your own life experiences. Each one of us will have our own opinion on that. How we interpret the story is likely to be a little more consistent from person to person, but even that can differ. As long as you can make a good case for your own interpretation *based on what happens in the story*, it's a valid interpretation.
