how do you think organic chemistry..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

think?????? or do u mean learn....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. how.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first understand the definition of organic chemistry and hydro-carbons then understand how various families....alkanes, alkenes etc are named then understand the various functional groups and the names of the compounds when these functional groups are attached then learn naming of compounds by finding longest carbon chains and numbering of the carbon atoms in the chain slowly build on these and at each step learn the rules well..

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Organic chemistry is the world of synthesis and compounds. There are so many syntheses and compounds that it may seem monstrous. But every monster has its weakness somewhere, and so does the vastness of organic chemistry. The vast number of organic reactions are governed by a few simple laws, which you shall have to learn. These laws help you learn reaction mechanisms, i.e. the way the reactants convert to products. After you know the basic laws, to find the result of a certain reaction, in the words of my friend, 'sit in the footsteps of a reactant molecule and feel what change it might undergo due to a reagent'. I highly recommend Organic Chemistry by John Mcmurry as a useful guide in your journey. It will help you 'think' Organic chemistry.

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

In the quotation, it should be 'walk' instead of 'sit'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you.. alike both your anwsers.. but sometimes it hard to understand the mehanism of the reaction..

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Review your fundamentals in general chemistry. If you dont understand any mechanism, tell me, I will make you understand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, i will try.. how old are you..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you all get done could you look at mine

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

I recently turned 18...u?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are really smart Mani Jha!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is your answer qwerty90.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My answer?

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

I am from India. Forget it, age doesn't matter for learning :) @Qwerty90, I do love science because it is so related to our lives.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh yes! I am also really a music guy! is it awesome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes @Qwerty90 . why.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh nothin just asking. This chemistry stuff is crazy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha. sometimes it goes crazy but sometimes it is very fun and enjoy. depend on topic. i prefer chemistry than physics.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Really? I don't know.. I am a classical music guy, do you like music?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

of course. i can play some instrumen. how old are you @Qwerty90 .?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
