Explain how the formula for the area of a triangle is derived from that of a rectangle.

well, you multiply the hight of a triangle by the width, and then divide that anser by 2. so it's similar to rectangles except you divide it by 2

Do you see that a triangle is 1/2 of a rectangle? That is how it is derived.
