So equal amounts 1M of HCl and 1M NaOH Knowing that HCl dissociates completely (strong acid) to H+ and Cl- in solution and NaOH dissociates completely (strong base) to Na+ and OH- in solution A better question is what do these two reactants form? Answer: A salt and H2O The answer you are looking for is the pH of water which is around 7 (neutral pH)

You can dilute something infinitely just keep adding water or what ever solvent you are using. NaOH + HCl -> NaOH + H2O The reaction is one to one and since they completely dissociate in solution there is going to be no free H+ electron acceptor or HO- electron donators left in solution thus resulting in a pH of that of water which is normally 7
