In the voltaic cell with a porous pot, first the zinc rod release electron and become zinc ion dissolve into the solution. Then the electron flow to the copper rod through the external circuit, the electron is then discharge the copper ion in the copper sulphate solution. I hope the statement above is right. But now, what will happen to the excess zinc ion in the zinc sulphate solution and the sulphate ion in the copper sulphate solution?
